Kitchen Assistant job summary

Salary: Salary Scale: Band 3 / SCP 4 (£6217.76 actual)

Start Date: As soon as possible

Contract: 10 hours per week, worked over 5 days, term time only + 2.5 days, permanent

Working Pattern: 5 days per week, 2 hours per day

St Gregory’s Catholic Primary School is part of Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust, within the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle. Our Catholic mission is: “We give thanks to God, work together and always try our best, shining in little ways for all to see.”

St Gregory’s is looking to appoint a Kitchen Assistant to join our catering team. Duties include, but are not exclusive to, the following:

Observing Health and Safety Regulations as directed by the Cook;

Assisting with basic food preparation and the service of meals;

Ensuring high standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained in the catering areas, including cleaning tables, washing up, brushing and mopping floors;

Assisting with the setting up and dismantling of dining furniture;

Observing correct portion sizes;

Maintaining attractive food presentation throughout all services;

Encouraging children to choose healthy meal options;

Completing temperature record forms;

Completing cleaning schedule checklists;

Reporting any deficiencies, damage or defects to equipment or supplies to the Cook.
