Teaching Assistant - Support Role

Contract Details: Teaching Assistant role

Hours: 8:30 am - 1:00 pm daily (22.5 hours per week) , this role is 0.5 FTE

Term: 38 weeks per year (Monday to Friday)

Start Date: December 1st 2025

We are seeking a committed and resilient Teaching Assistant to primarily work and provide dedicated support to a pupil with SEND within our Key Stage One Class. Wenhaston is a lovely school and at the heart of its community. The school was confirmed to be rated 'Good' by Ofsted in April 2025.

This post is 5 days a week and involves working within a Key Stage 1 class and primarily with one specific pupil. The primary focus of the role will be to provide tailored, one-to-one support to help this pupil access learning, manage behaviour, and make positive progress. The role will require a dedicated, consistent, and patient approach.

Key Requirements

The successful applicant will need to be an exceptional individual who can:

  • It is desirable that you have experience of working with children who have complex SEND needs.

  • Form strong, positive, and therapeutic relationships with the pupil, while maintaining professional boundaries.

  • Work proactively and collaboratively with the class teacher and SENDCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to implement specific learning plans and behavioural strategies.

  • Communicate effectively and confidently with parents/carers and external professionals involved in the pupil's support.

  • Hold recognised qualifications in English and Mathematics to GCSE level or equivalent.

This role is a fixed term contract running until the end of the school year. There is potential for this or a similar role within the school to become permanent in the future.
