Classteacher Person Specification

The school is seeking to appoint a person with the following attributes:

Qualification/Training/Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Relevant training or experience in teaching children in KS1
  • Proven history of providing effective, innovative teaching and learning
  • Experience of effective subject leadership would be an advantage

Professional Knowledge and Skills

  • A secure knowledge and understanding of the National Curriculum and assessment expectations
  • The ability to plan and lead an area of the curriculum effectively
  • High expectations of pupils’ work and behaviour
  • Good classroom organisation and time management
  • The ability to establish constructive working relationships with pupils, staff and parents
  • The ability to work as part of a team in curriculum planning and evaluation
  • A clear working knowledge of assessment for learning
  • Good IT skills and the ability to apply these to support teaching and learning
