What skills and experience we're looking for

About the Role

As a Primary Teacher within the Trust, you will have the privilege of shaping young minds during their most formative years. You will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons across the primary curriculum, tailored to meet the diverse needs of your class. Beyond academics, you will play a vital pastoral role, promoting the social and emotional well-being of your pupils and building strong partnerships with parents and carers. Whether you are an Early Career Teacher (ECT) looking for a supportive start or an experienced professional ready to share your expertise, you will find a collaborative and forward-thinking community here.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching & Planning: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging courses and lessons; teach pupils assigned to you according to their educational needs, including setting and marking work carried out in school and elsewhere.

  • Assessment & Targets: Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of pupils in accordance with school policy. Set short-term learning targets with the pupil (and parents, where possible) taking prior attainment into account.

  • Pastoral Care: Promote the general progress and well-being of individual pupils; provide guidance and advice on educational and social matters, and make records/reports on personal and social needs when appropriate.

  • Communication: Communicate and consult effectively with parents/carers, usually in cooperation with senior phase leaders or the Head of Year, and participate in relevant meetings.

  • Professional Development: Regularly review your teaching methods and programmes of work, participating fully in INSET, professional development, and the school’s Appraisal and Performance Management framework.

  • Environment & Safeguarding: Maintain good order and discipline among pupils, safeguarding their health and safety on school premises and during authorised school activities elsewhere.

  • Examinations & Assessment: Participate in arrangements for preparing pupils for public examinations/statutory assessments (e.g., SATs/Phonics Screening), including recording, reporting, and supervising during such assessments.

  • Wider Contribution: Contribute to the induction of new teachers and take part in the review, development, and management of the curriculum, organisation, and pastoral functions of the school.

  • Administration & Cover: Attend assemblies, register pupil attendance, supervise pupils during breaks when required, and provide cover for absent colleagues as far as is practicable and reasonable.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree.
