What skills and experience we're looking for

Are you an inspiring educator with a passion for sparking curiosity in young learners? This is a pivotal role where you will lay the foundations for lifelong learning, ensuring our children thrive in a knowledge-rich, nurturing, and creative environment.

As a KS1 Teacher, you will be responsible for the progress and well-being of your pupils, ensuring high standards of engagement through a curriculum that balances academic rigor with the unique developmental needs of Years 1 and 2.

Key Responsibilities

  • Educational Excellence: Act as a role model for learning, delivering high-quality lessons that ensure every pupil makes significant progress in reading, writing, and mathematics.

  • Phonics & Literacy: Lead the delivery of systematic synthetic phonics (SSP), ensuring pupils are well-prepared for the Phonics Screening Check and develop a genuine love for reading.

  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with Year Group partners and Subject Leaders to implement a creative, sequenced curriculum that builds on EYFS foundations.

  • Inclusion & Safeguarding: Maintain a culture where the child always comes first, following all statutory requirements (KCSIE) and tailoring support for SEND and EAL pupils.

  • Formative Assessment: Proficiently use data to track pupil performance, identifying gaps early and implementing effective interventions to ensure no child is left behind.

  • Parental Partnership: Build strong, transparent relationships with parents and carers to support the home-school learning link.

About You

You should be a reflective practitioner with a deep commitment to social equity and the belief that every child, regardless of their starting point, can achieve excellence.

Requirements

  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a Degree/PGCE are essential.

  • Experience: Proven success in teaching within a Primary setting (KS1 experience preferred, though ECTs with strong placements are encouraged to apply).

  • Pedagogical Style: A creative thinker with a "growth mindset" who can manage a classroom with warmth, clear routines, and high expectations.

  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of the KS1 National Curriculum and experience in using assessment data to drive classroom impact.

  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a Key Stage team and communicate effectively with the wider school community.
