We are looking for a skilled KS1 teacher to cover maternity in one of our Year 1 classes. You will be a skilled teacher with a passion for early childhood education, looking to develop your experience in a supportive school environment.
In Year 1 we have an engaging, topic-based curriculum alongside a strong emphasis on developing pupil’s phonics and early literacy skills. We successfully follow the RWI phonics programme, and are proud to have consistently achieved a pass rate of over 80%.
You will become part of our committed team of over 25 teaching professionals who truly want to, and do, make a difference. We are a large, three-form-entry primary school on the outskirts of Norwich. We have over 600 pupils and 90 staff who work collaboratively to support our pupils in achieving their full potential. We continue to perform above national averages in assessment outcomes, were rated good by Ofsted in 2023 and have excellent facilities, including a dedicated cookery room, two libraries, large sports facilities and an outdoor classroom.
The successful candidate will ensure that all pupils are cared for in a happy, safe and stimulating environment. We have great facilities and are committed to delivering a creative, engaging curriculum.
A new teacher to our school in September 2024 commented:
“Joining the team at Queen’s Hill has been an incredibly positive and fantastic experience. From the first day, I felt welcomed and supported by a friendly and collaborative team who go above and beyond for both staff and students. The sense of community here is truly unique. This is a place where you can grow, thrive and make a real difference.”
We pride ourselves on our professional development offer. Teaching teams plan collaboratively and take part in regular CPD training throughout the year.
Take a look at our website and social media channels to see if our passion for learning matches yours. If it does, then we would be delighted to hear from you.
Ideally you will:
- Have experience of teaching in KS1 and demonstrate excellent classroom practice.
- Have both the drive and commitment to expect the best from our pupils.
- Have the skills to build strong, supportive relationships with children that are built on mutual understanding and respect.
- Have consistently high expectations of learning and behaviour.
- Be committed to engaging in the whole life of our school.
- Be hard working, flexible and a good communicator – especially with parents and carers.
- Be ambitious for pupils with SEND, and understand the barriers they may face.
- Be keen to be part of a team, prepared to constantly review your practice and always be striving for excellence.
- Have experience of delivering the RWI phonics programme
We can offer you:
- A committed and caring team of staff and governors.
- A supportive leadership team who understands the importance of a good work/life balance.
- Children who enjoy learning and want to do well, with an active school council.
- A fantastic, purpose-built learning environment.
- A stimulating, balanced and relevant curriculum.
- Forward thinking approaches to learning and professional development.
We strongly recommend visits to the school. Should you wish to arrange an appointment, please contact the school office on – admin@queenshill.norfolk.sch.uk or call on 01603 746857.
