What skills and experience we're looking for

Hillstone Primary School is seeking an ambitious KS2 Teacher and English Lead to drive whole‑school literacy excellence. The school, rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, is a stable, community‑centred academy where behaviour is consistently positive, pupils are “lively and friendly,” and disadvantaged learners exceed national outcomes.

You will lead English in a school already performing strongly—Phonics results sit in thetop 13% nationally, with a 92% pass rate. The role blends high‑quality KS2 teaching with strategic leadership to strengthen KS2 reading and writing, mentor colleagues, analyse statutory data, and engage families through literacy events. The school’s research-driven ethos and commitment to inclusion provide a strong foundation for impactful leadership.

What the school offers its staff

Hillstone Primary School is a Standalone Academy Trust offering a supportive SLT, excellent CPD with routes into middle leadership, a well‑resourced environment, and wellbeing‑focused culture—including a two‑week October half‑term, onsite parking, access to teachers’ pension scheme.

Ideal candidates will have QTS, a strong track record of raising attainment (particularly for disadvantaged pupils), and a passion for high‑quality children’s literature.

We welcome you to come and look around, please contact us to arrange a visit.

* Inspire * Care * Educate *

We’ve just had a successful Ofsted inspection and this is what they had to say about our school:

-Our pupils are friendly, lively, confident and genuinely happy at school.

- As leaders we are successful in our aim to ‘inspire, care and educate’ and we achieve this by having high expectations for pupils in all areas of school life. Our pupils are successful in learning because they work hard and want to do well!

- As a school, we provide an extensive range of wider opportunities such as trips, sports, events and performances. Pupils have the opportunity to go on residential trips every year from year 2, as well as take part in a variety of after-school clubs, such as dance, judo, football and trampolining, to name a few.
Our pupils grow their own produce in our school allotment to sell at our farmers’ market and we encourage as much outdoor education as possible, with frequent visits to our local farm.

We believe in a well-rounded educational experience for our pupils and offer many creative opportunities, as well as academic. We do this by giving our pupils the opportunity to learn a variety of instruments, such as trumpet, violin, cello, guitar, ukulele, as well as having an actor from The Rep attend for the whole day each week.

If you share our passion for inspiring ALL children through a creative and exciting curriculum and understand the value of experiences and wider opportunities through art, sport, music, trips and beyond, we would love to hear from you!

We welcome applications from all teachers’ right through to UPS, with experience in EYFS (including nursery), KS1, or KS2 or an understanding of all phases.
