What skills and experience we're looking for
An increasing number of pupils are finding the transition from primary school to secondary school challenging. For some it is the move from small nurture group provision to being in a class of 15-30, for others they have arrived with extensive ‘Covid’ knowledge gaps which have been difficult to close, whilst for others it is ‘factors beyond their control’. We are therefore seeking to appoint an inspirational and dynamic primary school teacher, with specific experience of Year 6 teaching to help to bridge those gaps with focused interventions that empower pupils to successfully integrate into mainstream education.
We are looking to appoint a colleague who will:

We are therefore seeking to appoint an inspirational and dynamic primary school teacher, with specific experience of Year 6 teaching to help to bridge those gaps with focused interventions that empower pupils to successfully integrate into mainstream education. Approximately 35% of our pupils are eligible for FSM and Pupil Premium so a desire to make a difference to the lives of disadvantaged young people will be at the core of the successful candidate.
You will be teaching elements of the KS3 curriculum to Year 7 and Year 8 pupils who either have knowledge and skills gaps or who are not yet academically and emotionally secondary school ready. Your excellent knowledge of the KS2 Maths and English curriculum will help to secure rapid progress for our pupils.
In addition, you will play a crucial role in helping to ensure that our pupils develop into confident young people, developing their resilience and improving their emotional well-being.

The School
Haberdashers' Abraham Darby is a coeducational secondary school with a sixth form, educating around 1,058 pupils aged 11–18 in Madeley, Telford. The school converted to academy status in 2009 and is sponsored by the Worshipful Company of Haberdashers. It occupies a purpose-built, modern school building and serves a community with well-above-average levels of socio-economic disadvantage — 45% of pupils are eligible for free school meals, against a national average of 28.9% — alongside a broadly average proportion of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).
The school is anchored by three clear values — Aspiration, Respect and Excellence (ARE) — and a vision of "Success for All" that runs through its curriculum, pastoral system and extra-curricular offer. It has a genuinely thriving extra-curricular programme, with particular strength and a track record of external success in music (including its Abraham Darby Showband), rugby, and a fast-growing netball programme, alongside Duke of Edinburgh's Award, cadets and a strong sixth-form enrichment offer.
