The Role
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed KS4 Science Teacher to join our growing Health & Social Care team at South Devon UTC. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching that inspires curiosity, supports strong outcomes, and prepares students for their next steps in health education, training or employment.
This role requires a teacher who embraces the UTC ethos, values collaboration, and is committed to inclusive, ambitious education for all learners.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
Deliver high-quality KS4 teaching in line with the BTEC Level 2 First Award Health & Social Care specifications and AQA combined Science specification
Plan engaging, well-structured lessons that meet the needs of all learners
Set high expectations for behaviour, effort and academic success
Embed literacy, numeracy and technical skills within teaching
Assessment & Outcomes
Use assessment effectively to monitor progress and inform teaching
Provide clear, constructive feedback to support student improvement
Contribute to intervention strategies to raise attainment
Professional Contribution
Work collaboratively within the Science and Health & Social Care Department and wider UTC team
Contribute to the wider life of the school, including enrichment and employer-related activities
Engage fully in professional development and performance management
Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding and student welfare

Person Specification
Essential
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Degree in a science-related subject
Experience of teaching KS4 Science
Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for science/health education
Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice
Desirable
Experience teaching within a technical, UTC or career-focused setting
Ability to teach scientific topics relevant to health and social care
