Job Description
As the After-School Club Assistant, you will support the daily operations of the school by ensuring a stimulating and engaging after school experience for our children. Your responsibilities will include:
Plan and lead engaging, inclusive, and age-appropriate play activities, including arts and crafts, sports, games, and imaginative play.
Help deliver a warm, welcoming, safe, and stimulating environment where children can relax, play, and thrive after the school day.
Support children's personal, social, emotional, and physical development by building positive relationships and encouraging positive behaviour in line with the school's values and behaviour policy.
Carry out daily risk assessments and ensure all health and safety procedures are followed.
Adhere to safeguarding and child protection policies at all times, ensuring the welfare of every child.
Prepare and serve healthy snacks and refreshments in accordance with food hygiene standards.
Assist with personal care routines, including toileting and nappy changing, where required.
Support the daily organisation and administration of the club, including setting up and clearing away resources.
Work collaboratively with the Club Manager and wider team, providing guidance and support to junior playworkers where appropriate.
Build positive partnerships with parents, carers, and school staff through effective communication to support the best outcomes for children.
Contribute to creating an inclusive environment that celebrates diversity and meets the individual needs of every child.
Person Specification
We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic individual who meets the following criteria:
Essential:
A full and relevant Level 3 qualification in Childcare, Playwork, Early Years Education, or an equivalent qualification. Applicants who are willing to work towards a relevant Level 3 qualification as part of our professional development programme may also be considered.
Previous experience working with primary school-aged children in a wraparound care, childcare, nursery, or educational setting.
A strong commitment to providing high-quality care, play, and learning opportunities for children.
A sound understanding of safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, and Ofsted welfare requirements.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, colleagues, and school staff.
A patient, caring, and nurturing approach that supports children's individual needs and wellbeing.
The ability to work effectively as part of a team, while using initiative when required.
A positive, reliable, and flexible approach to work.
Desirable:
Understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures and a commitment to keeping children safe.
Willingness to uphold and promote the Christian ethos and values of our school.
Paediatric First Aid training.
Experience working with children with additional needs
