The SENCo will retain overall responsibility for curriculum design, and you will work closely with them to plan the structure of the day. During the day, you will work with pupils individually and in small groups, supporting them to access the curriculum either within the Beacon or alongside their peers in the classroom.

  • Liaise with class teachers, parents/carers and external agencies as required.
  • Support the SENCo in embedding and continually improving practice within the provision as it becomes established.

The ideal candidate will possess

  • A positive, approachable and caring attitude towards all children.
  • A reflective and adaptable teaching style to meet the diverse needs of each individual child.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to contributing to our school’s values, ethos and development.
  • Experience of, or a genuine interest in, supporting children with social, emotional and mental health needs.
  • A calm, consistent and resilient approach when working with pupils who may present with behaviour that challenges.
  • An understanding of the impact of trauma and attachment on children’s behaviour and learning (desirable).
  • Experience of leading, coordinating or mentoring the work of other adults (desirable).
  • Confidence in liaising with the SENCo, class teachers and external professionals and agencies.

At Woodcot Primary School you will find
