What skills and experience we're looking for

Hinde House 2–16 Academy is seeking to appoint an exceptional Lead Practitioner for Numeracy to play a pivotal role in the next stage of our all‑through improvement journey.

Following our 2026 Ofsted inspection, the Academy is focused on strengthening and refining a coherent, ambitious and inclusive curriculum that ensures every child leaves Hinde House equipped with the knowledge, confidence and skills to succeed. Numeracy sits at the heart of this ambition.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and highly effective mathematics specialist to influence practice from Early Years through to GCSE, raising standards and shaping a strong culture of numeracy across the Academy.

The Role

As Lead Practitioner for Numeracy, you will provide strategic leadership and model exemplary classroom practice, ensuring numeracy is consistently and effectively embedded across all phases and subject areas. Working closely with senior leaders, middle leaders and teachers, you will help ensure that pupils know more, remember more and can confidently apply mathematical skills across the curriculum.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and refining the Academy’s whole‑school numeracy strategy across ages 2–16
  • Ensuring a well‑sequenced, coherent numeracy curriculum that builds cumulatively over time
  • Modelling outstanding teaching, including GCSE Mathematics (Higher Tier)
  • Supporting colleagues to embed numeracy across subjects, improving pupils’ ability to access and interpret numerical information
  • Using assessment intelligently to identify gaps, inform intervention and demonstrate impact
  • Working closely with the SENCO and inclusion teams to ensure all pupils can succeed
  • Leading high‑quality CPD, coaching and professional development linked to numeracy pedagogy

Contributing to self‑evaluation and improvement planning in line with Ofsted expectations for Intent, Implementation and Impact

The Candidate

We are looking for an aspirational professional who:

  • Holds a relevant degree(e.g. Mathematics or a related subject) and QTS
  • Has at least 3 years’ teaching experience, including recent successful teaching of GCSE Mathematics at Higher Tier
  • Demonstrates strong subject knowledge and a proven track record of improving outcomes
  • Shows the ability to lead, influence and inspire colleagues through exemplary practice
  • Has a secure understanding of curriculum design, assessment and inclusive teaching
  • Is committed to equity, excellence and ensuring all pupils achieve highly, regardless of starting point
  • Thrives in a collaborative, improvement‑driven culture

Experience of working across phases or in an all‑through setting is desirable, but not essential.
