New Bewerley Community School is a vibrant, inclusive primary school with a dedicated Resource Provision for children with complex needs. We are seeking an inspirational and dynamic Lead Practitioner for SEMH to join our team and take a lead on fostering emotional well-being, academic progress, and a nurturing environment for all our pupils.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the SEMH provision within school, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, individualised support for pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and other professionals to ensure SEMH needs are met across the school.
  • Develop and implement tailored strategies and interventions that support the social, emotional, and mental health needs of pupils.
  • Liaise with the inclusion team, ensuring that all pupils receive holistic, wraparound support.
  • Promote inclusion within the school community, ensuring that SEMH pupils are fully integrated and supported in mainstream classes.
  • Drive high expectations for both academic achievement and personal development for all pupils.
  • Be a visible and supportive presence within the school, working in collaboration with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.
  • Act as a Designated Safeguarding Officer, ensuring that all safeguarding policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Deliver training and professional development to staff on best practices for supporting SEMH pupils.


The Ideal Candidate:

  • A passionate and experienced practitioner with a deep understanding of SEMH and a strong commitment to inclusion.
  • Proven leadership skills, with experience in leading teams and supporting colleagues in developing best practices for SEMH provision.
  • A clear belief in high aspirations for all pupils and a commitment to ensuring every child reaches their full potential.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding policies and practices, with previous experience as a Designated Safeguarding Officer.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach, with a determination to overcome barriers to learning and emotional well-being.
  • Relevant qualifications in SEN, SEMH, or related fields and a commitment to ongoing professional development
