Lead Practitioner in Science

ISR P2 - P6

(£53,332 - £58,857)

We are looking to appoint a dedicated and engaging Lead Practitioner to our Science department from January 2026, as we work to achieve and surpass the objectives outlined in our vision: supporting learners as they seek to develop an empowering knowledge of Science. We are particularly keen to hear from an experienced Science specialist with a proven track record of delivering an engaging and inspiring curriculum to students across the age and ability range. The ideal candidate will also have experience of leading a Department or subject area.

The successful candidate will also have access to a full range of courses both in-house and professionally accredited, including all of the National Professional Qualifications eg NPQLTD.

Coaching and mentoring of staff within the department is a key priority. As such, the successful candidate will be able to work with teachers to promote high-quality teaching and learning, and to ensure that teachers are supported in their implementation of the school’s behaviour policy. Promoting and monitoring student progress, through these and other means, is essential for the role.

The successful candidate will be supportive and keen to assist in leading a team of colleagues who value and welcome new ideas; regularly evaluate team successes and challenge each other to continue improving. They will crucially provide a friendly and supportive presence for a diverse cohort of students who are keen to learn and to be shown the importance of Science.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching and learning and will have the ability to motivate students.

If you believe that you have the energy, passion, resilience and drive, please feel welcome to apply.

Please apply via My New Term. The deadline for applications is 9am on Tuesday 21 October 2025 and interviews will be held before half term.

The inspectors found that the school has high expectations of students’ behaviour and their attitudes to learning, all staff and governors share strong priorities, and the school is taking the right action to raise standards of achievement across the school. The inspection identified that students are proud of our school and its diversity, feel safe and supported, and have a strong sense of community.
