What skills and experience we're looking for
A Lead Practitioner in an inspirational teacher for pupils and colleagues alike, with the track record to prove it. They are someone who is ambitious and highly motivated to lead others. The Lead Practitioner will do everything possible to raise the quality of teaching and learning in physics and in the wider school.
The science department at Swanshurst is a highly successful one, making a significant contribution to Ebacc progress scores that are consistently significantly above the national average. We would expect the successful candidate to teach all Science disciplines at Key Stage 3 and KS4 Combined Science, plus physics separate science and A level. We also offer GCSE and A level Psychology and BTEC level 3 applied science within the Science department. Lead practitioners are expected to contribute to the work of the department leadership team and to our professional growth curriculum for all teaching staff, through delivery of whole school CPD and instructional coaching.
How have we achieved our current strengths? Quite simply, we employ teachers who are as ambitious, passionate and dedicated. These amazing people work hard to ensure that our pupils make the best progress they possibly can. Whether they are the most able or those requiring additional support, every child deserves nothing less than the very best teaching.
Not surprisingly, there’s a real buzz about our school. If you would like to be part of it – and teach children who genuinely want to learn – we would love to hear from you.
