Our Science department is a key strength of the academy, with a clear focus on curriculum excellence, strong outcomes and inspiring teaching. As we continue to build on recent improvements, we are seeking an outstanding Lead Practitioner for Science to play a pivotal role in driving further impact across the department and the wider school.
The RoleThis is an exciting opportunity for a proven and credible practitioner with a passion for Science education and a track record of improving teaching and learning. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Science and senior leaders to model exceptional practice, develop colleagues, and ensure consistently high-quality provision across the Science curriculum.
We are looking for a candidate who can clearly demonstrate impact—on student outcomes, teaching quality, and staff development—and who is committed to leading by example in the classroom.
Key Responsibilities- Model and deliver consistently high-quality teaching and learning within Science
- Lead on the development and dissemination of outstanding classroom practice
- Coach, mentor and support colleagues to improve pedagogy and subject expertise
- Contribute to curriculum design, sequencing and assessment within Science
- Analyse performance data to identify priorities and drive targeted improvement
- Support the implementation of whole-school teaching and learning strategies
- Play an active role in CPD, professional learning communities and school improvement initiatives
- An exceptional classroom practitioner with strong subject knowledge in Science
- A proven track record of raising attainment and improving outcomes
- Evidence of successfully influencing and developing other teachers’ practice
- High expectations of students, colleagues and self
- The ability to evaluate impact and adapt practice to secure sustained improvement
- A collaborative, reflective and resilient professional with strong interpersonal skills
