Lead Practitioner of Science job summary
As Lead Practitioner you will already excel in the classroom - but, just as importantly, you will be instrumental in supporting colleagues within science and across the academy to enhance their effectiveness in the classroom, through mentoring, coaching, professional development and challenge. The demands of the role will be high, and this is reflected in the salary attached. Ideally, candidates should already have experience of middle leadership or beyond in a school setting.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced and outstanding classroom practitioner with a track record of strong outcomes and in supporting the development of other colleagues. The role will involve a significant Science timetable (between 60 and 70%) but will enjoy relief from teaching to work closely with the Quality of Education Team to develop colleagues to be outstanding in their teaching. We need someone who can walk the walk and be a beacon of excellent practice in a classroom environment, whilst possessing the muscularity of intellect and professional credibility to drive up standards across the academy.
