Start Date: September 2025

Are you passionate about inspiring the next generation of scientists? Do you have a proven track record of outstanding teaching and a desire to drive excellence in education? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Lead Practitioner of Science.

In this leadership role, you will provide direction and guidance to students, staff, parents, and the wider community, ensuring a commitment to high standards, equality, and aspirations. You will work closely with the Head of Department to drive the vision for the subject and implement strategies aimed at improving student attainment and overall teaching excellence.

Your key responsibilities will include leading professional development for staff, providing mentorship and coaching, and designing impactful teaching materials that support high-quality practice. You will have the opportunity to contribute to cross-Trust curriculum development, support the improvement of teaching across the department, and make a lasting difference through focused interventions and targeted support for students.

As a Lead Practitioner, you will model exceptional teaching, manage resources effectively, and contribute to the self-evaluation and school improvement planning process. Your ability to use data to identify and address areas for improvement will be central to your success. You will also play a key role in developing and supporting other teachers, fostering a collaborative and growth-focused environment.

To succeed in this role, you will need recent experience of teaching at the secondary level, a strong record of improving student progress, and the ability to deliver high-quality CPD to staff. A deep understanding of exam specifications and curriculum developments, along with the ability to lead and mentor colleagues, will be essential.

If you are driven, organised, and committed to making a positive impact on student outcomes, we would love to hear from you. Join us and lead the way in creating a culture of excellence and improvement within our Science department.

Please note that we operate a probationary period of 6 months across all jobs in the Trust (see attached policy for further details). You will receive a comprehensive induction to support you to successfully pass your probation
