What skills and experience we're looking for

The ideal candidate will have a passion for the subject, be able to inspire our students’ love of learning, and have a history of raising attainment. This is an ideal opportunity for an ambitious professional, with Leadership ambitions, who wants to work in an environment which is both supportive and incredibly ambitious. Ultimately, this is a job for a professional who is driven by the desire to transform life chances through exceptional learning.

The first and most significant aspect of the role will be in teaching consistently exceptional lessons to ensure students make exceptional progress, from KS3 to KS5, and this is the first priority for any teacher and leader in the school, from the Headteacher to a trainee teacher. The successful candidate will also work with an already incredibly impressive Science Team, supporting them with honing and perfecting their craft, because at Debden it is an expectation for every teacher, no matter how experienced or effective, to continually seek to improve their practice. There will also be an opportunity for the post holder to support with teaching and learning throughout the school, which is facilitated through a weekly two-hour CPD provision, an open door culture of daily drop-ins using StepLab, and - most importantly - a culture of teaching and learning conversations being the norm throughout the school.

What the school offers its staff

We are part of a family of schools within the Kemnal Academies Trust. We provide exceptional career progression for staff, which leads to our Middle and Senior Leadership teams being composed of many teachers who began their career with us. We lead the Essex hub of the TKAT SCITT.
