About the school

Be Proud. Aim High. Work Hard. Be Kind. No Excuses.

These values, chosen by our students, shape our school community and our expectations for every student. We want our young people to be ambitious, work hard, show kindness and develop the confidence and resilience to take responsibility for their future.

Excellent teaching and learning is at the centre of our work. We want every student to leave Sarah Bonnell with strong qualifications, powerful knowledge and the confidence to take their next steps successfully. Just as importantly, we want them to leave as thoughtful, compassionate and ambitious young women, ready to make a positive contribution to the world around them.

Sarah Bonnell School is an all-girls 11-16 Academy at the heart of its community and is proud to be part of the Newham Community Learning Trust. Our vision is to provide a world-class international education for young people in Newham, ensuring that every student has access to the same high-quality teaching, ambitious curriculum and broad range of opportunities as young people in any school across the country.

Over the last ten years, we have significantly raised academic standards and strengthened our culture of high expectations, making Sarah Bonnell the school of choice for our local community. Our ethos is rooted in continuous improvement, strong partnerships and a commitment to developing our staff. We believe that exceptional outcomes for students are achieved through a combination of excellent teaching, strong relationships, high expectations and a shared commitment to helping every young person fulfil their potential.

“Students have excellent relationships with staff. Students feel well supported and cared for. They told inspectors they were highly valued, felt their voice was heard and they were encouraged to do the very best they can”

(Ofsted Report, November 2022)
