Learning Assistant job summary

Are you a nurturing, patient and enthusiastic Learning Assistant with experience of supporting young children in Early Years and Key Stage 1 settings?

The Bishop Creighton Academy, part of the Greenwood Academies Trust, are seeking a Learning Assistant to join our supportive and inclusive team. Experience of working within Early Years and Key Stage 1 environments is essential. Experience of delivering targeted interventions to support pupils' progress and development would be highly desirable.

As a Learning Assistant, you will:

  • Support learning across a range of classroom and structured activities
  • Work with individuals and small groups to promote progress, independence and confidence
  • Deliver targeted interventions to support pupils in closing gaps in learning and achieving their full potential
  • Support pupils' physical, emotional, social and educational development
  • Assist with the preparation of resources and delivery of personalised learning support
  • Build positive, consistent relationships with pupils and adults
  • Promote a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience of working with children in Early Years and Key Stage 1 settings
  • Has experience of delivering rapid catch-up interventions to younger pupils to support academic and developmental progress
  • Has a strong, sensitive and informed understanding of supporting young children with a range of learning, communication and developmental needs
  • Has experience of supporting children with speech, language and communication needs
  • Can adapt support to meet individual needs in a calm, inclusive and respectful way
  • Holds GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths and a Level 1 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent experience)

Desirable experience

  • Experience of delivering Little Wandle Rapid Catch-up interventions
  • Familiarity with delivering speech and language therapy interventions
  • Experience of delivering targeted literacy, communication or early learning interventions
