About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Kibworth Church of England Primary School for an individual to join our behaviour and relationship team as a behaviour mentor. Your role will involve leading pastoral interventions in order to support our children’s social, emotional and mental health needs, emotional literacy and social interaction. You will also be led by our phase leads to ensure behaviour is well supported within the classroom and vital links between home and the school are maintained. As one of our mentors, you will develop your own timetable to work flexibly in supporting the well-being of our young people and encourage them to be reflective and responsible.

Key Responsibilities
- To promote the successful integration of students with special educational needs and remove barriers to learning.
- To set up strategies and approaches for individuals and groups of students within the classroom, playground and communal areas of the school to support/enable them to achieve well and make good progress.
- To support students in times of transitions, supervising students being mentored as well as support transition of new students to the school.
- Assists in the preparation of programmes of study and the development of induction programmes, engaging with students to maximise future chances for the individual.
- To assist under-achieving students and their parents/carers to access the curriculum.
- To provide a stimulating work environment which facilitates the raising of achievement, incorporating activities using IT as required.
What We’re Looking For
Qualifications:
- NVQ 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent OR
- Able to demonstrate the ability to meet the STL Level 3 National Occupational Standards relevant to this post.
- Level 2 qualifications in maths/numeracy and English/literacy OR
- Able to demonstrate competency in literacy and numeracy equivalent to level 2.
- Proficient with Teams and other standard IT systems/software
Experience:
- Experience of supporting teaching and learning in a formal setting.
- Supporting learning within the Early Years Foundation Stage &/or Key Stage 1 or 2
- Have experience of working with children with medical needs.
- Experience of working with SEN children
Skills & Knowledge:
- Knowledge of child protection and health and safety procedures.
- Knowledge and understanding the theory and practice of providing effectively for the individual needs of children
- Ability and willingness to undertake professional development.
- Able to develop appropriate trustful relationship with specific children.
- Promote the school’s aims and vision positively
- Develop good personal relationships within a team.
