What skills and experience we're looking for

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Learning Mentor to work as part of our successful pastoral team. We seek to appoint an experienced Learning Mentor, who has experience of working with children facing difficulties in school because of social, emotional, personal or behavioural challenges. You will be responsible for working across the school, to support the children in overcoming their barriers to learning and fully engage in lessons.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have recent experience of working in a mentoring role with young people, including individuals and groups in an educational or youth work establishment.
  • Have a good understanding of safeguarding and be aware of the avenues to explore and sign post the school community for early help.
  • Make a valuable contribution to the teaching and learning of children facing barriers to learning.
  • Have a passion for supporting all children to succeed.
  • Be able to work under the direction of the SENCo as well as independently.
  • Be able to work effectively within a supportive, committed and successful pastoral team.
  • Collaborate with parents, carers and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to each child's development.
  • Have high aspirations for themselves and a commitment to further development.
