The values within the school are grounded in the Christian faith based on love, compassion and respect for each other as well as the world we live in. The school is now ranked amongst the highest achieving comprehensive schools in the country. In August 2011 the Department for Education granted the school Academy status.
The school is heavily over-subscribed each year and provides for students of all abilities. It is justly proud of its academic achievements, in the GCSE examinations and A Level examinations of 2020. St. Aidan’s is also proud of the 40 plus students who have a Statement of Educational Needs and who thrive within the school.
The extra-curricular provision within St. Aidan’s complements the academic standards with Music ensembles (many of which are known nationally and internationally), Drama, Dance and Sport all playing major parts in the life of the school. A significant number of other clubs and societies take place at lunchtime or after school, and all students are encouraged to participate in these activities to ensure that a full and rounded education is provided. The list of achievements in all spheres of school life is endless and provokes much pride within all who work in the school.
