Learning Mentor job summary

St. Aidan’s Church of England High School requires a Learning Mentor to support a number of students in school with more complex social, emotional and behaviour needs. We need to enable vulnerable students to regulate their emotions, to model and teach appropriate interactions, to de-brief when things go wrong and to make reparations. The key responsibilities are: enabling students in the development of strategies to manage their emotions delivering intervention sessions with mentored students supporting students reintegrate back into their mainstream lessons supervise students working in the Independent Learning Centre (ILC) creating behaviour profiles to enable behaviour targets to be set for individual students support the Pastoral Intervention Manager with alternative provision and alternative curricula as needed Safeguarding St Aidan’s Church of England High School (Part of YCST) takes safeguarding very seriously and is committed to safeguarding and the promotion of the welfare of all children and the prevention of extremism. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Successful applicants will be required to provide references, undertake an enhanced check through the Disclosure and Barring Service and comply with the Safeguarding Policy and Child Protection Practices of YCST. Checks are also undertaken to verify identity, address, qualifications required for the post, right to work in the UK and previous employment history.
