Learning Mentor job summary

An amazing opportunity is available join the brand new Tiffield Academy a Learning Mentor. Tiffield Academy, an all-through special free school for autistic students who have severe learning difficulties (SLD) and Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), opened its doors in September 2025 in a purpose-built new building and you could be part of this. You will drive high quality support for our young people and their families to ensure a fabulous experience at Tiffield Academy.

We’re looking for an exceptional Learning Mentor who is:

highly skilled with a strong knowledge of working with young people who have complex additional needs

able to positively support young people when experiencing dysregulation

proactive and positive with a clear capacity and desire to work closely with families

able to promote excellent student attendance

able to prioritise and manage own workload to ensure that administration is of a high quality and meets the needs of our students

an effective member of the safeguarding team and can ensure that appropriate action is taken, when necessary

able to liaise with external professionals in order to ensure the best support possible for our students

able to build positive relationships with staff, students and families alike

able to demonstrate the values that underpin our approach to supporting students 

About us:

Tiffield Academy is the newest addition to the special academy portfolio within the very successful Greenwood Academies Trust. The academy opened its doors in September 2025 and will be welcoming up to 140 students in its first year and growing to 230 students over subsequent years. The purpose-built new building has been designed with the students’ needs at the forefront of everyone’s thoughts with good sized classrooms, quiet spaces for group work and calming spaces as well as sensory rooms. There are dedicated rooms for Food Technology, Art and Science as well as workspaces for staff. Thought has been put into the exterior design too, including an outdoor games area, sensory garden and horticulture area planned.
