LEARNING MENTOR

About this Role

Hours Per Week: 37

Weeks Per Year: 39 (term time only)

Hours: 8.00am - 4.00pm Monday - Thursday and 8.00am - 3.30pm Friday

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing day-to-day support for vulnerable students and caseloads of identified students who need additional support over a range of issues. Some responsibilities may include:

To build appropriate relationships with allocated students to support them in achieving their full potential

To monitor the allocated students across the curriculum, providing relevant and timely support.

To run intervention sessions as appropriate

To contribute to individual learning plans for students to support their access to learning.

To deal appropriately with allocated students social and behavioural development to maximise learning potential.

To maintain records of students’ academic and personal progress

Ensure all relevant parties are consulted and informed about student progress as appropriate, including parents of students

Update and review progress of student caseload with college leader/line manager on a regular basis

To work in accordance with the aims and policies of the Academy and to promote the Academy and wider Trust.

The successful candidate will:

Be educated to a good standard with a minimum of GCSE Grade C in English and Mathematics or equivalent.

Have the ability to assist students with their learning and management of their behaviour.

Have the ability to successfully work with disaffected young people.

Have a knowledge and understanding of strategies to remove barriers to learning.

Be able to establish relationships with students, colleagues and other professionals.

Have good organization and time management skills.

Have excellent communication skills.

Experience of working in a school or similar educational setting is desirable but not essential.
