What skills and experience we're looking for

Can you support children’s wellbeing and help to improve their attendance, behaviour and attainment?

Learning mentors work with children and young people on a group or one-to-one basis. They provide support, motivation and guidance to help pupils overcome obstacles to their learning. These could include learning difficulties, family issues, mental health problems or a lack of confidence. Learning mentors often specialise: for example, academic mentors focus on education attainment, while SEMH behaviour mentors focus on the social, emotional and mental health needs of pupils.

We are looking for a passionate, committed, friendly, approachable and child-centred Learning Mentor, on a fixed term basis.

You will work within a very successful pastoral team under the direct line management of the Headteacher. You will work collaboratively with the pastoral team to work with individuals and small groups to support the social and emotional development using the ‘Thrive Principles’.

You will have knowledge and experience of supporting children who have experienced trauma, difficulties with attachment and poor emotional literacy. The relevant experience and qualifications are detailed in the person specification.
