Learning Resource Centre Manager job summary
About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly organised Learning Resource Centre Manager to play a central role in developing a strong culture of reading at The Birley Academy. Working closely with the Reading and Literacy Lead, English department and wider staff team, you will lead the day‑to‑day management and development of the Learning Resource Centre as a vibrant, welcoming hub that inspires pupils to read for pleasure and supports their literacy development. This is a varied and impactful role combining resource management with direct work supporting pupils, literacy initiatives and whole‑school reading programmes.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a committed professional with a genuine passion for reading and inclusion, who enjoys working with young people and can manage systems, spaces and relationships effectively. You will bring strong organisational and communication skills, confidence using ICT and data systems, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Experience in a school or library setting is desirable, but most important is your enthusiasm for promoting literacy, building positive relationships and making a meaningful difference to pupils’ outcomes.
