Learning Support Assistant job summary
Job Title: Learning Support Assistant
Location: Langley
At Q3 Langley Our vision for learning is based around the whole child, ensuring no child is left behind. Our unique, innovative and exciting curriculum in Year 7 provides an excellent transition from Primary School. This enables pupils from all starting points to make rapid progress and enjoy their learning whilst improving their literacy skills.
Within The Trust we are proud that our ethnically and culturally diverse community is fully represented by the students and staff at each Academy. The Q3 ethos; ‘to seek that which is good, that which is right and that which is true,’ fully embraces the fundamental British Values of democracy; the rule of law; individual liberty; mutual respect and tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs.
Students will be taught in mixed-attainment classes for their Core lessons. These follow the English Baccalaureate suite of subjects - English, mathematics, science, modern foreign languages, geography and history. Outside of the Core subjects students follow a carousel of teaching in the Horizon or Innov8 curriculum. This broad and balanced curriculum focuses on developing knowledge and skills in computing, business, design, religious studies, PSHE, art, dance, drama and music.
We use strategies within the curriculum and beyond to ensure these values are communicated and acted upon.
At the Academy our spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) education permeates through the curriculum, supports the development of the ‘whole child’ and includes the teaching and development of British Values.
The Academy seeks to continuously review and evaluate its work by gaining external accreditation. The successful completion of the awards listed below demonstrates that SMSC and British Values are incorporated into the daily life of the Academy:
Discovering Democracy Award for promoting youth participation and democracy in schools
Duke of Edinburgh Award
Army Cadet Force
Sandwell Shape Awards
Furthermore, our Wednesday afternoon offer of physical education and enrichment ensures that all students take an active part in developing skills, interests and talents they may not have known existed. Our commitment to developing the whole child, while maintaining the highest academic expectations, has received significant regional and national recognition. Q3 Academy Langley has received TES Schools Awards nominations in three consecutive years, 2024, 2025 and 2026, reflecting the sustained impact of our work and the strength of our Academy community.
In 2026, we were especially proud to be named a Silver Award winner in the Pearson National Teaching Awards, Making a Difference: Secondary School of the Year, recognising the difference our staff and wider Academy community make to the lives and futures of young people. Welcome Letter 2026 records this as one of the Academy's most recent national honours. [Welcome Letter 2026 | Word]
Our success is also increasingly enabling Q3 Langley to contribute to education beyond our own Academy. In 2026, we became a Department for Education RISE Attendance and Behaviour Lead Hub School, recognising the strength of our approach to attendance, behaviour, belonging and school culture. Through this national programme, Q3 Langley is supporting other schools across the West Midlands to improve attendance and behaviour and create calm, supportive environments in which children can achieve and thrive. Q3 Academy Langley to become Department for Education Attendance and Behaviour Hub School confirms the Academy's selection as a DfE lead school and its role in providing practical mentoring and sharing its expertise with other schools. Our outward-facing work extends further. Headteacher Peter Lee was appointed as a Regional Co-Chair of the national DfE KS3 Alliance in 2026, contributing Q3 Langley's experience and expertise to national collaboration around Key Stage 3. [Welcome Letter 2026 | Word]
These achievements build upon the Academy's wider recognition, including being named Secondary School of the Year by Education Today in 2024, and demonstrate how Q3 Langley's distinctive approach is increasingly influencing practice beyond our own gates.
Our ambition, however, remains rooted in the same purpose with which the Academy began: to make a lasting difference to the lives of young people in our community, combining academic excellence with character, belonging, opportunity and aspiration, and ensuring that no child is left behind. Nationally recognised. Proudly rooted in our community. Relentlessly ambitious for every child.
