What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint a learning support assistant who is caring, enthusiastic and experienced from March 2026.

The successful candidate will work in close partnership with the class teacher, parents and other agencies to support the children within the classroom and on an individual basis.

The successful applicant will:

  • be supportive of our Catholic ethos
  • have patience, and a kind, firm but fair approach;
  • have a passion for children’s social progress and well being in addition to their academic success;
  • be enthusiastic, self-motivated, creative and able to use their initiative;
  • be committed to working as part of a team that has a ‘can do’ attitude;
  • be flexible in the way they approach learning;
  • be positive, calm and caring and able to sensitively support children;
  • understand confidentiality and safeguarding;
  • have experience of working with children with ASD or social communication difficulties
  • have experience of PECs or TEACHH or similar programmes
  • be able to adapt learning in the moment
