Learning Support Assistant job summary

We are seeking a reliable, enthusiastic, and confident ‌Learning Support Assistant‌‌‌‌‌ to join our team at Laurus Ryecroft. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in education, whether you're considering a career in teaching or already have experience working with young people. As a ‌Learning Support Assistant‌‌‌‌‌, you will be responsible for Act as keyworker for students with SEND in order to support their progress throughout school. Due to the specific support needs of the student, this position is open to male applicants only.

We have two roles available contracted up to 34.5 hours per week Term Time Only basis. 

Job Purpose 

  • Support identified students within the classroom environment, within small group situations.
  • Work with teachers to enhance student progress, whilst also promoting their independence, self- esteem and social inclusion. 

Key Skills & Experience

  • Sound educational background including GCSE’s in Maths and English (A*-C) or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a school environment would be advantageous.
  • Ideally possess prior experience within a similar role.

Laurus Ryecroft is an oversubscribed secondary school for 11 to 18-year-old students in Tameside. The school is run by the Laurus Trust and replicates the outstanding education offered by the Trust’s founder school, Cheadle Hulme High School (CHHS), based in Stockport. CHHS is a hugely oversubscribed school and has been named as one of the UK’s top-performing schools in The Sunday Times, ranking as the 15th non-denominational comprehensive school in Manchester and the North West in the annual Parent Power Survey for 2022.

Laurus Ryecroft is a non-selective, non-denominational free school. It opened in September 2018, initially providing 150 Year 7 places in five forms with 30 students in each. A further seven Year 7 forms will be added each academic year until the school is at full capacity. In addition to this the school will have a sixth form of 300 students.
