Learning Support Assistant job summary
Join our dedicated and supportive team at Alderley Edge Primary School.
We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic and committed Learning Support Assistant to join our successful and forward-thinking primary school. This is a fixed term, full-time position starting on 1st September 2026. Applications for part-time working will also be considered.
The successful candidate will work with children with SEND within a mainstream primary setting across a range of age groups. The role will involve:
Providing academic and pastoral support to pupils on an individual basis
Supporting inclusion and engagement in the classroom
Working closely with class teachers and the wider school team
Helping children to develop confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours
Supporting children in their social engagement and play
We are looking for someone who:
Has experience supporting children with SEND and a good understanding of a range of additional needs
Is patient, nurturing and adaptable
Is able to use their initiative and respond positively to the individual needs of children
Has a strong understanding of child development and knows how to engage and motivate children in their learning
Can build positive relationships with children, staff and families
Is committed to helping every child achieve their potential
