Are you up for the challenge of working in one of the top 5% of schools nationally for progress? If so, we want you!

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic and committed individual to join our Personalised Learning SEND faculty. We believe that every student at Baysgarth School is capable of achieving their very best, regardless of starting point or additional need, and the Personalised Learning team work to ensure that any barriers to success are addressed and supported. This is a great opportunity for someone with the right skills to join the school and team at an exciting time.

We are oversubscribed in almost every year group, which reflects the first-class facilities we have on site as well as our fantastic students and staff who make the school a great place to learn. We pride ourselves on achieving outstanding outcomes in a school with an inclusive ethos that has superb pastoral care and a strong commitment to staff mental health and work-life balance.

Ofsted visited Baysgarth in October 2017 and concluded that we are a Good school which ‘has gone from strength to strength’ and is making ‘good progress on the journey to outstanding’. In terms of student achievement, Ofsted reported that ‘Overall progress was in the top 10% nationally … [and] current pupils are making strong progress in all year groups.’ The DfE have concluded that ‘there is no better performing similar school within 75 miles of Baysgarth’ and it is our mission to recruit the most talented staff to continue this progress.

The role of Learning Support Assistant is key in providing high quality learning experiences at all times for our students.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Supporting individuals or groups of students to access all areas of the curriculum
  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff to create outstanding learning opportunities
  • Delivering 1:1 or group targeted interventions
  • Communicating student progress to a range of stakeholders
  • Supervising pupils during breaks, lunchtimes and extra-curricular activities

The following qualifications and experience are essential:

  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) Grade C or above
  • Experience of working with students with additional needs within a secondary school
  • Knowledge and awareness of KS2 and post 16 education
  • Knowledge of how students learn and how additional needs might impact on this
  • Using ICT to support students’ learning
  • Using differentiation strategies to support a range of learning needs effectively

Baysgarth School is currently an 11-16 comprehensive with approximately 970 pupils on roll. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate pride, passion and positivity and a desire to ensure the school has the highest possible reputation in the local community and beyond.

Baysgarth School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be required to apply for enhanced disclosure from the DBS.

If you are inspired by the challenge and responsibility of this opportunity, we would like to hear from you. Further details and an application form can be downloaded from our school website. Baysgarth School was founded in 1975 and has proudly been serving the communities of Barton-upon-Humber and the surrounding villages for almost 50 years. We have continually encouraged the best from each student and year on year the school is enjoying the most successful academic results in the school's proud history.

Over the last six years Baysgarth has undergone a complete transformation. In summer 2014 our results were the second worst in the Local Authority and were on a three-year downward trend. Since then, we have made significant and sustained improvements; in 2015 we were named the most improved school in North Lincolnshire and in 2016 we were in the top five schools in the Humber region, in the top two schools in North Lincolnshire and amongst the top 10% of schools nationally. Since then, Baysgarth has been in the top 5% of schools nationally for the progress we make with our students year on year.

We value each student and continually strive to enhance our broad and balanced curriculum to support the best outcomes and prepare our young people for their next steps and beyond.
