Learning Support Assistant - Link job summary
Inspiring every child for a life well lived.
Some days will fill your heart.
Some days will test your patience.
Every day will matter.
At Broadstone First School, we believe in preparing children for a life well lived - helping them grow not just in knowledge, but in confidence, independence and self-belief.
We’re looking for someone special - a Learning Support Assistant who can see the child behind the behaviour, the potential behind the challenge, and the small wins that lead to the biggest breakthroughs.
What you’ll do
You’ll work closely with pupils who have additional needs or EHCPs - supporting them to learn, grow, and feel proud of who they are. You’ll also work in small groups, helping children find joy and confidence in their learning.
You’ll:
- Support children’s physical, emotional and educational development.
- Deliver pre-planned learning activities that build independence.
- Encourage self-belief and positive behaviour through kindness and consistency.
- Celebrate progress - even when it’s measured in millimeters.
- Build trust with children and families and work closely with teachers to make learning accessible.
- Occasionally help with personal care - because dignity and compassion matter.
About you
You’ll need:
- Experience working with children (especially those with SEND or SEMH needs).
- Endless patience, emotional warmth, and a calm presence under pressure.
- The ability to laugh, reflect, and bounce back.
- A genuine desire to help every child feel seen, safe and successful.
- Ideally, a relevant qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
Why join us?
Because we know the work isn’t always easy - but it’s always worth it. Here, you’ll be part of a compassionate, supportive team that celebrates the small moments that make a big difference.
You’ll belong to the Southern Education Trust, where wellbeing, kindness, collaboration and professional growth are at the heart of everything we do.
If you’re ready to bring patience, humour, and heart to every day - and to help children truly live a life well lived - we’d love to meet you.
The Southern Education Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate that they meet the essential elements of the person specification and will be subject to pre-employment checks including an Enhanced DBS Check, Child Barred List check, satisfactory references and a health check and, where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check will be completed for all applicants.
An online check will also be conducted on all shortlisted applicants. This check will form part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not be on the appointment panel will conduct the search and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
This role is UK based and your Right to Work will need to be established as part of the appointment process
