George Salter Academy is seeking a caring, committed and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA)to join our dedicated team. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of young people by supporting their learning and personal development in a vibrant secondary school environment.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and the SENCO to support students with additional learning needs, helping them to access the curriculum, build confidence and achieve their potential. Your work may involve 1:1 support, small group work, and in-class assistance across a range of subjects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted support to students with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND)
  • Work closely with teaching staff to plan and deliver personalised learning strategies
  • Help create a positive, inclusive and respectful learning environment
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to staff and parents where appropriate
  • Promote students’ independence, self-esteem and emotional wellbeing
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including pastoral support and enrichment activities

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • A genuine passion for working with young people and supporting their learning
  • Experience of working in an educational or care setting (desirable but not essential)
  • An understanding of a range of special educational needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, resilience, and a positive, proactive attitude
  • 5 passes (A-C) at GCSE (or equivalent) including English and Maths
