Salary: £10,930 - £11,916 pro rata per annum (FTE £27,926 - £29,080)
Hours: Term-time only (38 weeks), 18 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 08:45-12:36 (includes a 15-minute unpaid break). Start and finish times can be flexible if required.
Contract: Permanent

Overview

We are seeking to appoint a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work mainly in Early Years and Key Stage 1.

The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers to support children’s learning and development, including those with special educational needs (SEN), within a classroom setting. You will help to create a nurturing and stimulating environment where every child can thrive.

The successful candidate will:

You may be required to deliver a bespoke curriculum for some children, with guidance and support from the class teacher and SENDCo.

The Role (Purpose)

To provide support for pupils, including those with special educational needs.

You will:

  • Support pupils with their daily routines, learning, emotional regulation, behaviour, social interaction, and self-care
  • Build supportive, caring, secure, and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Implement appropriate programmes under the guidance of the class teacher and SENDCo
  • Promote pupil engagement and independence
  • Work with external professionals to plan and deliver provision
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers
  • Carry out personal care duties where required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver personalised support both inside and outside the classroom
  • Support pupils’ learning, routines, social development, behaviour, and self-care
  • Record, monitor, and report on behaviour and learning progress
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENDCo, and external specialists
  • Adhere to safeguarding (KCSIE), health and safety, and school policies

Person Specification (Requirements):

Essential

GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or above.

Previous experience working with children.

Ability to work on your own initiative.

Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children and adults.

Ability to use relevant technology/equipment.

A positive, flexible, team‑focused attitude.

A DBS on the update service or willingness to complete a new one.

Desirable

Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs.

Level 3 Teaching Assistant / Early Years Practitioner qualification.

Recent school‑based references (within the last 2 years).
