Learning Support Assistant - Science job summary

A team where your contribution is visible every single day

"The SEND department here is incredibly collaborative. At 10:00 am on any given Tuesday, you will find our team fully integrated into classrooms, working alongside teachers to make sure no student is left behind. We work tirelessly, but we do it as a genuine collective"

As a Learning Support Assistant at Chipping Norton School, your presence directly shapes the classroom experience for students with additional needs. You will not simply be supervising tasks; you will be the professional partner who creates a calm, purposeful environment where students feel secure enough to achieve. Working across a variety of subjects, your high expectations will help students build the independence and confidence they need to fully belong in our school community.

What You’ll Bring (Skills & Experience)

A visible commitment to supporting students with additional educational and behavioural needs.

High expectations of yourself, your colleagues, and the young people you support.

The collaborative mindset required to contribute effectively to a dedicated, fast-moving pastoral and SEND team.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to maintain calm, structured boundaries during a busy school day.

An alignment with our core values of Everyone Belonging, Everyone Achieving.

Professional Security: Full recognition of continuous public sector service (where there is no break in service) and access to the secure, government-backed Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).

Shared Growth: Financial support and structured funding pathways for professional qualifications, including apprenticeships.

The Whole Person: Access to a comprehensive 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) providing mental health and wellbeing support for you and your immediate family.
