Learning Support Assistant/Sports Coach job summary

We are a large, friendly, supportive team looking for an enthusiastic, caring and flexible Learning Support Assistant to provide support for students in our classrooms during the school day and structured wraparound sports activities before and afterschool. This role requires a level 2 coaching award or equivalent.

The role will all involve helping students develop self confidence and resilience, to develop a positive mindset and a greater capacity for learning. You will help the students to build friendships and to become integrated into our school community.

The role will include:

  • Supporting students in class by abridging the learning, providing support strategies and helping students to develop skills to overcome barriers in learning
  • Providing students with support for their core skills such as numeracy and literacy (either in small groups or 1:1)
  • Undertaking 1:1 engagement and confidence building work such as gardening, cooking, crafts.
  • Pastoral mentoring, support with mental health and managing emotions.
  • Planning and leading engaging sports sessions tailored to the age and ability of participants.
  • Organising and overseeing inter-house or inter-school sporting fixtures as appropriate.
