St Michael’s CofE Primary School are looking for exceptional staff to take up this exciting opportunity and join our supportive and friendly team. The school is part of The Keys Academy Trust which is a primary specialist MAT committed to providing the very best educational experiences for our pupils and staff, so that our schools are recognised as centres of academic and pastoral excellence at the heart of the communities they serve. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with colleagues across our family of schools as part of the Trust’s CPD programme and networking opportunities.
We are seeking to appoint a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to provide support for a child in our Year 3 class. The role will involve working with a child and supporting their learning as directed by the teacher and SENDCo. We would ideally be looking for someone with previous LSA experience and/or experience of working with a child with Speech and Language Needs as well as Sensory Needs linked to ASD. You would be joining an experienced team dedicated to helping children achieve their full potential.
Duties include:
- Establishing positive relationships with pupils and their parents
- Supporting pupils with a structured timetable which addresses literacy and numeracy skills as well as social and sensory needs
- Promoting positive behaviour and helping keep pupils on track
- Assisting with taking pupils on educational visits
- Lunchtime duty
General requirements:
- Passionate about supporting pupils with SEND and want to make a difference to the life of a vulnerable pupil
- Able to build a positive rapport and exercise patience and consistency
- Kind, caring and compassionate
- Experience with, or a passion for, working with young people
- An awareness of commitment to equality
- Basic understanding of health and safety
- Understanding and implementing child protection procedures
