What skills and experience we're looking for
Westminster Academy has a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic, reliable and proactive Learning Support Assistant to join our experienced SEND team. Under the direction of the SENDCo, the post holder will support students who have been identified for additional support as indicated by an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or Individual Education Plan (IEP) in order to facilitate access to a broad and balanced curriculum. You will work with the class teacher in providing a stimulating educational environment in which students can achieve their potential.
This role is for someone who enjoys providing focused in-class and out-of-class support to students with special educational needs and disabilities, delivering one-to-one and small-group interventions, implementing EHCP strategies and tracking progress so students make measurable academic and personal development gains. If you have experience supporting literacy, numeracy or students with EHCPs and can build calm, trusting relationships, we would love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering one-to-one and small-group learning sessions tailored to individual needs, including literacy and numeracy programmes.
- Implement strategies and provision set out in EHCPs and after discussion with the SENDCo, monitor and record impact.
- Support class teachers to adapt resources and plan materials that enable access to the curriculum.
- Establish positive relationships with students to encourage inclusion and good behaviour.
- Contribute to reviews (including EHCP / IEP reviews) and ensure agreed interventions are in place and working.
