Start Date: 1st September 2026

We are seeking a Specialist Learning Support Assistant to work with deaf children at Warren Primary School. You will provide communication and learning support for deaf students, ensuring their integration in the classroom and on the playground / sports field. You will also carry out small group intervention sessions within the Resource Base and create and adapt resources under the guidance of a Teacher of the Deaf. The successful candidate must hold a minimum of a British Sign Language (BSL) Level 2 qualification or use BSL as their first or primary language.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Facilitate Student Integration: Collaborate with teachers, peers, and families to support inclusion in academic and social settings.
  • Adapt and Deliver Learning Support: Modify lessons, materials, and resources to meet individual needs, including using British Sign Language and transcription.
  • Provide In-Class and Extracurricular Assistance: Offer direct support during lessons, assessments, trips, performances, and lunchtime activities.
  • Monitor Progress and Plan Strategies: Assess learning needs, maintain records, and contribute to planning effective support interventions.
  • Engage in Professional Collaboration: Participate in reviews, meetings, and training while maintaining confidentiality and promoting best practices.
