About You:

The Milton Keynes Academy is seeking a committed and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to provide holistic support to pupils with identified SEND needs. You will work within the SEND Code of Practice to promote full inclusion and help pupils access learning and school life confidently. You will play an important role in delivering personal and intimate care programmes, supporting pupils with their educational and therapeutic needs, and working closely with staff, families and outside professionals. As a positive role model, you will contribute to our nurturing school ethos by celebrating achievements, promoting positive behaviour and maintaining professional, supportive relationships with all members of our community.

Our Ideal candidate will have:

  • A caring, patient and inclusive approach, with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Experience or interest in supporting pupils with a range of SEND, including cognition and learning, communication and interaction, SEMH, and physical or sensory needs.
  • Willingness to provide intimate and personal care sensitively, safely and professionally.
  • Confidence in delivering tailored educational and therapeutic programmes (e.g., SALT, OT, physiotherapy) under guidance.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with teachers, families and external professionals.
  • Strong organisational skills, including accurate record keeping and contribution to reviews, reports and planning.
  • A team-focused attitude, supporting colleagues, contributing to meetings, and participating in wider school life.

About the Support Team:

Our support team consists of seven Teaching Assistants, a Director of SEN and SENDCO, and a Deputy SENDCO. Each Teaching Assistant is assigned to a specific year group, enabling them to build strong, consistent relationships with both students and parents. Every TA also specialises in a particular area of intervention, contributing their expertise to the delivery of targeted support across the school.

We operate with a highly collaborative approach, working in close partnership with Heads of Year and the Inclusion Team to ensure cohesive, high-quality SEND provision. Together, we coordinate and deliver effective support that meets the diverse needs of our learners.
