Learning Support Assitant job summary

Hi!

Thank you so much for your interest in joining Huntingtree Primary School. I’m genuinely delighted that you are considering becoming part of our community.

At Huntingtree, we are immensely proud of our school offer for children and families. We are a school with an inclusive reputation within the local area. Our children bring a wonderful mix of strengths, personalities, and needs, and we believe every one of them deserves to feel seen, understood, and supported to flourish. Our Learning Support Assistants play a central role in making this happen.

We are looking for someone who is above all:

Caring - putting children at the heart of everything

Positive - bringing warmth, optimism, and encouragement each day

Skilled - or ready to develop their skills with enthusiasm and curiosity

If this sounds like you, you will fit in beautifully here.

We are also proud to be part of the Stour Vale Academy Trust — a Trust we chose carefully because its values align closely with our own and it supports genuine collaboration while preserving each school’s individual character.

A little about me: I joined Huntingtree in January 2017 as Deputy Head — alongside my close friend Jim Harrold as Head — and I am now serving as Acting Headteacher (with Jim currently Executive Head). I love this school and the wonderful family we have built over the years. Outside of school, I enjoy cycling (though I’m definitely getting slower in my old age) and eating cheese (far too much of it). I also have the sense of humour of a 13‑year‑old boy.

I warmly encourage you to visit the school. Seeing our children, staff, and learning environment firsthand will give you the best sense of what makes Huntingtree such a special place to work. I also invite you to watch a short video from Becki, one of our long‑serving Learning Support Assistants, who shares her experience of what it’s really like to be part of the team.

I truly love the school family we’ve created here — and I’m hopeful that you might be just the right kind of person to join us.

Hope to see you soon, Mr Lloyd
