Learning Support Officer (Alternative Provision) - Maternity job summary
English Martyrs Catholic School and Sixth Form College are looking to recruit a Learning Support Officer to support our Alternative Provision (term time only). As a Learning Support Officer you will play a vital role in supporting pupils who may be facing barriers to learning, helping them to re-engage with education, so they can reach their full potential. This role is ideal for someone who is compassionate, resilient, and committed to making a positive difference in young people’s lives.
You will work closely with individual pupils and small groups, offering tailored support to improve behaviour, attendance, confidence, and emotional wellbeing. Through mentoring, goal-setting, and consistent encouragement, you will help pupils develop the skills and mindset needed to succeed both in and beyond the classroom.
Collaboration is key—you’ll liaise with teachers, pastoral staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure a joined-up approach to pupil support. You may also contribute to intervention programmes, support transitions, and help create a nurturing and inclusive school environment.
This is a rewarding and impactful role that requires empathy, patience, and strong communication skills. Your work will help unlock potential and empower pupils to overcome challenges and thrive.
