What skills and experience we're looking for

Lecturer in Adult ESOL (19+) 1.0 FTE | 36 hours per week | 52 weeks per year Salary: £34,421 - £41,074 per annum

We are seeking to appoint an inspiring, enthusiastic and committed full-time Lecturer to join our successful Adult ESOL provision.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of outstanding teaching, learning and assessment within ESOL, ideally with experience of working with adult learners. You will deliver Ascentis and City & Guilds ESOL qualifications and may also contribute to a range of complementary programmes designed to support learners' wider progression and integration. These may include Employability Skills, Living and Working in the UK, Community Interpreting, Functional Skills Maths (Entry Level 1-3) and Basic Digital Skills. Experience or knowledge of these areas would be advantageous, together with a willingness to contribute to the ongoing development and expansion of our ESOL curriculum offer.

You will demonstrate experience of delivering high-quality student support, curriculum development and blended learning. A strong understanding of the adult learning sector, including the motivations, challenges and barriers faced by ESOL learners, is essential.

The successful candidate will work closely with a small team of experienced professionals and will undertake course leadership and internal quality assurance responsibilities. Familiarity with awarding body specifications, assessment requirements and quality assurance processes within ESOL provision is therefore highly desirable.

This post includes the delivery of two evening classes each week.

Working with our ESOL learners is both rewarding and inspiring. You will join a highly supportive team with a strong commitment to learner success, continuous improvement and collaborative working across the wider curriculum area.

As a College we are required to undertake various Safer Recruitment checks as set out within the guidance from the Department for Education Keeping Child Safe in Education. We require all staff to undertake an enhanced Adult and Child Workforce DBS Check and to register with the DBS Update Service. From 28 November 2020, changes were made to the DBS filtering rules. As DBS certificates issued before this date may have been produced under different filtering arrangements, we are unable to rely on an Update Service status check for certificates issued before 28 November 2020. In these circumstances, a new DBS application will be required.
