Level 2 Teaching Assistant job summary

Join Our Team as a Level 2 Teaching Assistant!

Due to continued growth, Rowan Gate School is excited to recruit several Level 2 Teaching Assistants across our sites. We’re looking for passionate, like-minded individuals who want to make a real difference in the lives of pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

What you’ll do:

  • Support pupils in both social and academic aspects of school life.
  • Help children become independent learners and raise achievement standards.
  • Provide care and welfare for all pupils.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other assistants to create a positive learning environment.

What we’re looking for:

  • A good general education (GCSE Grade 4-9 or equivalent in English and Maths).
  • Experience in a school setting is preferred.
  • Ideally, experience supporting children with SEN—but we also welcome applicants from the care sector or those starting a career in education.

The roles are permanent, part-time contracts, working 39 weeks including 5 training days. The hours of work are 33.75 hours per week with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break each day with the working pattern as below:

  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 8:40 am - 3:30 pm
  • Tuesday: 8:40 am - 5:00 pm (staff training 3:30-5:00 pm)
  • Thursday: 8:40 am - 4:00 pm (staff class time 3:30-4:00 pm)

We are happy to consider flexible options for part-week work (e.g., Mon, Tue & Thu), however the start and end times of the days must be met.

Whilst you will be allocated to one of our Rushden or Wellingborough sites to work, if successful you will be employed by Rowan Gate Primary School and therefore you may need to work at alternatives sites or travel between sites as needed.

Rowan Gate is committed to safeguarding and promoting the safety and welfare of the pupils in its care. All applicants should hold or be willing to undergo a DBS Enhanced Disclosure. Appointments will also be subject to confirmation of right to work, satisfactory health clearance, satisfactory references from previous employers, in addition to other clearance checks. In addition, in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education, we are also required to carry out online searches for all successfully shortlisted candidates.
