Join Our Team as a Level 2 SEN Teaching Assistant
30 hours per week | 39 weeks per year (term time + 1 week)
We have a mixture of permanent contracts and maternity cover contracts.

We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Level 2 SEN Teaching Assistants to join our growing team at Ellesmere College—a large, aspirational special school in the heart of Leicester.
About the Role
You will work closely with students aged 4–19 who have a range of moderate to complex learning difficulties, including communication and interaction needs and complex autism. Your role will involve:
- Supporting students’ learning and development in the classroom and beyond
- Adapting your approach to meet individual needs
- Working collaboratively with teachers and other professionals
- Helping students achieve their best possible outcomes
What We’re Looking For
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a flexible, team-oriented mindset
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
- A commitment to inclusive education and student wellbeing
- A desire to learn and grow in a supportive environment
Experience with special needs is highly desirable, as is knowledge of:
- Makaton
- PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System)
- Sensory-based approaches
(Training can be provided for the right candidates.)

Ellesmere College currently supports 439 students across two sites, with a third Post-16 centre opening soon. Our multi-site model allows us to offer bespoke learning environments tailored to the needs of our students, particularly those with the most complex needs.
