Level 3 Teaching Assistant (3 positions available) job summary

The role in a nutshell

As a Level 3 Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in transforming the lives of the children you support. You will help pupils overcome learning and developmental challenges, making a meaningful contribution to the quality of education they receive.

The responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant can be varied and may differ from school to school. At this Academy, the key duties include:

  • Working alongside the class teacher to plan, deliver and adapt learning activities, supporting high-quality teaching across lessons
  • Providing skilled support for pupils, using professional judgement to adapt approaches to meet individual needs
  • Leading lessons or learning activities independently, under agreed guidance from the teacher
  • Planning, delivering and reviewing targeted intervention programmes for individuals and groups of pupils, feeding back on progress and impact
  • Taking a lead role in supporting pupils’ access to their educational provision, including adapting resources and strategies to remove barriers to learning
  • Monitoring and evaluating pupil engagement and progress
  • Supporting the wider class team, including modelling effective strategies and contributing to collaborative planning where appropriate

This role offers variety and the opportunity to face something new each day. While the work can be demanding, the rewards are significant, seeing pupils grow in confidence and achieve their goals will make every effort worthwhile.
