What skills and experience we're looking for
Holy Brook School provides education for children aged between 4 and 11 years old who primarily have social emotional and mental health needs. Our children may be neurodivergent and have additional needs, including autism and/ or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. We are proud to be a Reading Borough Council local authority school.
We seek a dynamic, caring and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our skilled, supportive and committed team. This role is 37 hours per week, working 5 days per week, term time only + INSET days. It is an ideal opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children’s learning and wellbeing.
Key responsibilities:• Supporting pupils in the classroom, individually and in small groups• Assisting the class teacher with lesson preparation and classroom activities• Helping to create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment• Supporting pupils with additional needs, including social, emotional, and/ or learning needs• Supervising pupils during break times and onsite and off-site school activities as required, including swimming and forest school• Contributing to reflective discussions and our ethos of collaborative working
We are looking for someone who:• Is patient, nurturing, and enthusiastic about working with children and supporting their learning and progress• Has good communication and teamwork skills• Is reliable, flexible, and eager to learn• Has experience working with children (desirable but not essential)• Shares the values and ethos of Holy Brook School• Is calm under pressure and resilient• Understands the principles and importance of safeguarding children and child protection
