What skills and experience we're looking for
Full Time, Term Time Only to include Inset days.
The Holy Brook School is a specialist community special school in Reading supporting primary-aged pupils (5–11 years) who experience Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Many of our wonderful pupils are neurodivergent, including those with autism (ASD) and ADHD. Our goal is to create a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where children can emotionally regulate, build confidence, and truly thrive.
This role is working 5 days per week, term time only + INSET days, and is ideal for someone passionate about supporting children’s learning and wellbeing within a friendly school community.
The Role:
We are looking for a caring, energetic, and resilient Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated and welcoming team. You will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to deliver tailored support and help pupils engage positively with their learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support pupils with SEN and SEMH needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
- Assist the class teacher with learning activities and resource preparation.
- Help maintain a calm, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Encourage emotional regulation, communication, and social independence.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with our pupils.

- Someone who has experience of working with children
- A real desire to work with children with SEN, autism, or SEMH needs.
- A patient, nurturing and adaptable individual.
- Good basic skills in English and Maths.
- A resilient attitude and a good sense of humour.
